Think the grass is greener on the other side? Remember this.

Focus on what you have.

We tend to sometimes always think the grass is greener on the other side. It always is. There will always be someone with better things, doing what you want, achieving what you want, and simply ”better”. Although that does not mean that your life and what you have is not amazing. It is all about perspective babe, if you constantly find yourself comparing, thinking about what you are missing, and expecting things from others you will never be happy. You will miss out on what you have and how blessed you are.

Constantly thinking about how you would be better if you where in a different place, different people, different career, or simply just not what you are currently living. The feeling of never being satisfied with what you have. Simply thinking your life would be better if you where doing what that person is doing. Knowing that no matter how amazing and blessed your life is it will never be better than that one person. This is a constant issue especially now with all the social media that makes it impossible to not want to be doing or having what others have or do. Although if you are constantly in this loop of wanting something better you will never ever get to the point of realizing the amazing life you have.

Common things said:

Oh if only I had this

I would be happier if I was here

I wish I had that money

I wish my relationship was like theirs

I am at this place but that persons looks better

Ofcourse you can wish for things and want whats best for you. Although if you do it with a bad intention of jealousy you will be stuck on the same loop over and over hurting yourself. Instead of saying ”Oh I wish my relationship was like theirs” say ”I am blessed to have a partner that loves me and is willing to work out our issues, I will talk to him/her about it”. Stop thinking everyones life is better because you just know what they decide to show, not how their life actually is. Once you realize all of what you create in your mind and overthink is a fantasy, you will see clearer.

You have to start counting your blessings, even if they may seem small because not everyone gets to do many of the ”small things” that are actually a really big blessing. Such as having a bed to sleep, food on the table, good health, people that love you, and simply being alive. Your life is amazing babe, put more attention to yours than to others.

Xoxo,

Mar

  2. Yes, what a great reminder to be thankful for the things we already have. The Stoics have said that we should imagine ourselves without the thing we already have, so that we can be more thankful of them. Anyway, thanks for this post!
